Sydney, Australia — CMYKhub has announced the purchase of a new swissQprint Impala 5 at Visual Impact 2026 in Sydney, continuing its investment in wide format production capacity across its national manufacturing network.
Purchased through Pozitive, the new Impala 5 will be installed at CMYKhub's Brisbane Hub, replacing an Impala 2 that has been at the heart of the site's rigid and roll-to-roll wide format production for almost a decade.
For CMYKhub Brisbane Hub Manager Alex Jell, the decision to reinvest in swissQprint came from nearly 10 years of experience with the platform.
"The Impala 2 has been an absolute workhorse for us," Jell said. "It has produced all of our rigid wide format work along with banners and roll work, and has been an incredibly reliable machine.
"We've certainly got our money's worth out of it, but after nearly 10 years it's time for an upgrade. Given the experience we've had with both swissQprint and Pozitive, we were very comfortable reinvesting in the platform."
Proven platform, more capacity
The Impala 5 brings a significant increase in productivity over the outgoing machine, while maintaining the print quality and versatility CMYKhub has relied on from its existing swissQprint equipment.
"The biggest benefit for us is the additional speed and capacity," Jell said. "We want to continue improving turnaround times for our trade customers across Queensland without compromising on quality, and this investment gives us considerably more capability to do that.
"Our operators have also loved running the Impala 2. It's simple to operate, easy to maintain and extremely reliable, which matters when you're working through a high volume of jobs with tight turnaround expectations."
CMYKhub National Wide Format & Workflow Manager Alan Nankervis said the decision reflected the company's approach to equipment investment across its manufacturing network.
"We know the platform, we know how reliable it has been and we know the quality it produces, so staying with swissQprint made a lot of sense," Nankervis said.
"The Impala 5 gives Brisbane more speed to support both increased workload and faster turnaround, as well as another step forward in print quality.
"For us, investment is ultimately about giving our trade customers better capability locally. As their businesses grow and expectations around turnaround continue to increase, we need to make sure the equipment behind them keeps moving forward as well."
Continuing the partnership with Pozitive
The purchase also continues CMYKhub's growing relationship with Pozitive, following recent investment in Summa cutting equipment supplied by the company.
Phil Trumble of Pozitive said the Impala 5 was a natural next step in the relationship.
"CMYKhub knows what it needs from its production equipment and, after almost a decade running the previous Impala, there's a lot of confidence in what the swissQprint platform can deliver," Trumble said.
"We've enjoyed building our relationship with the CMYKhub team, including their recent investment in Summa equipment, and we're pleased to be supporting them again with the new Impala 5."
The Impala 5 will join CMYKhub's Brisbane production operation as part of the company's ongoing investment in technology and manufacturing capacity across its Australian hub network.
